Modernizing Heritage Windows
Detailed repair of rotted wooden sills and pulley systems for classic sash windows.
The original sash windows of this historic property were beautiful but failing. Years of weathering had rotted the sills, and the old pulley systems had become jammed and drafty, making the rooms uncomfortable during winter.
We chose restoration over replacement. Our team carefully cut out the rotted timber and spliced in new, treated wood to match the original profile. We then serviced the internal weights, replaced the frayed sash cords, and added discreet weather-stripping to stop the drafts.
The windows now glide open effortlessly while maintaining their classic heritage look. By focusing on repair rather than replacement, we preserved the home’s original charm while significantly improving its energy efficiency and ease of use.
